Caroline and Nolan Turn 1!

About a year ago I did a baby shower cake for a coworker who had twins. Well, Caroline and Nolan turned 1 this month and their mom asked me to make cupcakes for their birthday party! While I can't take credit for the decorative "signs" in the cupcakes or the cupcake stand (their super crafty mom took care of that) I can take credit for making sure the cupcakes were cute and matched the decor! Happy 1st Birthday Kiddos!

Cupcakes start at $1 each and can be ordered by the 1/2 dozen or dozen.

Excel Spreadsheet

Ashlee's boss's birthday is this week. Apparently he is quite the user of spreadsheets so she wanted to get him a spreadsheet cake. Done. Ashlee and her work partner provided me with several inside joke phrases to put inside the spreadsheet's cells....I didn't get it but I hope he finds them funny!
This is a 2 layer white cake with raspberry filling (Ashlee's favorite and standard!). Filled layer cakes start at $40.

Savannah is 1!

HJ's girlfriend, ;) , Savannah turned 1 this month. She celebrated with her family and some fabulous butterfly cakes. Savannah has a sweet tooth so it was chocolate cake with chocolate fudge buttercream for her (and the rest of the guests). Savannah's Momma said she loved the cake and got it EVERYWHERE...which is exactly what every 1 year old should do on her birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAVANNAH!!

Play Ball!

My friend JL turned 32 last week. He celebrated with his son and a bunch of their friends with a pick up baseball game and then a bbq with his friends and family. So we thought a baseball cake would be perfect. I was thrilled with how this cake turned out and I can't wait to make another one some time!

Custom cakes start at $35.

Happy Anniversary!

One of my first "cold calls" (i.e. a stranger who needed a cake) was about a month ago. She needed a sheet cake for a party for her parents' 25th wedding anniversary. Nothing fancy but their wedding colors were pink and grey.

Sheet cakes start at $40.

Grave Digger!

My friend Brooks turned 4 in July and when his Momma asked him what kind of cake he wanted he responded, without hesitation, "GRAVEDIGGER!" Unbeknownst to me, there is a monster truck called Gravedigger. It's black, with green and purple flames on the front, and a graveyard painted on the sides. This is what Brooks wanted....and that's what he got!

This whopper is 6 layers of marble cake with lots and lots of buttercream...black buttercream at that. This cake went to school with Brooks....lots of 4 year olds with black mouths. Yes! Oh, and did I mention that Brooks goes to school at a church. So Gravedigger went to church...even better!

Captain Rex

I had my first "repeat" design! One of my first cakes was a Captain Rex cake for Nate's birthday...well, my buddy Quinn turned 4 and also requested Captain Rex. This Rex, however, is a two layer cake with raspberry filling (Quinn's mom's favorite...!). Quinn is also the lucky little guy who got the R2D2 cake last year! He's got a thing for Star Wars!

Pirates take 2!

A while back I posted a photo of a pirate cake I did for a little boy's 5th birthday. Well, I was afraid that the Captain wouldn't feel all the peeps at the party so I added on some pirate cupcakes to make sure there was enough cake to go around. Here are the Captain's "mates"!

Allergen free Dora

My friend's son Gavin turned 2 in June and he loves Dora so that was the obvious choice for his cake. Gavin however is allergic to dairy, eggs, canola oil and nuts....hummm...cake without diary and eggs? YOU BET! This Dora cake is 100% dairy and egg free!

Rum Cupcakes, Mon!

Our friends Brook and Brian tied the knot in Jamacia this spring and celebrated later with a reception back home. I was honored to create mini versions of their rum wedding cake for their reception. I wish I could take credit for how beautiful the display turned out but I can't...we owe that all to the talented designers of Hillis and Co. I did however make some pretty decent rum cupcakes with rum buttercream!

Cake Scraps

Jamie loves Thursday and Friday nights around here because that's when I do my cake decorating for the weekend. I carve shaped cakes out of square or rectangle cakes resulting in cake scraps. I have yet to figure out a use for the cake scraps...but Jamie has....they go in his belly! Usually he'll grab a piping bag and make what he calls a homemade twinkie. However the other night he grabbed the plate, I plopped some frosting on the plate and he dug in. As you can see, he was very excited about it!

Confirmation

Zach was confirmed in to the Methodist church last weekend and his family celebrated with cake! This is a 9 x 13 marble cake with buttercream frosting. Congratulations Zach!
